CHARLOTTE OBSERVER 10-29-1919
LENOIR MINE IS PROVING MOST PROFITABLE VENTURE
SPECIAL TO THE OBSERVER
Kinston Oct.28-The only "mine" in Lenoir county is proving a profitable venture.A
company is "taking out" an anclent deposit of rosin from the site of an abandoned
turpentine still on a bank of Neuse river south of this city. The product is in a
thick layer covered over with soil washed down during the past decades. There are
many tons of it.Formally compeatively valueless, the rough rosin is being worked
over at a point in Georgia and bringing good prices.Asimular deposit was mined in
Greene county some years ago.
