CHARLOTTE OBSERVER 10-29-1919 LENOIR MINE IS PROVING MOST PROFITABLE VENTURE SPECIAL TO THE OBSERVER Kinston Oct.28-The only "mine" in Lenoir county is proving a profitable venture.A company is "taking out" an anclent deposit of rosin from the site of an abandoned turpentine still on a bank of Neuse river south of this city.The product is in a thick layer covered over with soil washed down during the past decades.There are many tons of it.Formally compeatively valueless,the rough rosin is being worked over at a point in Georgia and bringing good prices.Asimular deposit was mined in Greene county some years ago.
