Kinston—Irene Tyndall Gray, 88, passed away on June 6, 2007, at Lenoir Memorial 
Hospital.  Irene was a resident of 800-A Doctors Drive, Kinston, and most recently 
a resident at Spring Arbor Assisted Living, also in Kinston.  In 1986, Irene retired 
from her career as a dietician and chief of food services at Atlantic Christian 
College in Wilson.  Born, on September 13, 1918, She was raised, and educated 
in the Phillips Cross Roads area of Jones County, Irene graduated from Trenton 
High school in 1935.  Since her marriage in 1935, Irene was a homemaker, farmer’s 
wife, and mother while also serving as dietician at Trenton High School prior to 
assuming her role at Atlantic Christian College in 1955.  She was a long time 
member of Chinquapin Chapel Christian Church.  Irene was predeceased by her
husband, David Everette Gray; her father, Herbert Tyndall; her mother, Rosa Parker 
Tyndall; and a sister, Alma Doris Tyndall Phillips.  She is survived by her three 
children, John Wesley (J. W. ) Gray and his wife Gloria of Walkersville, Md.; 
Rosa (Rose) Ann Gray Morris and husband Delma, of Stella, N. C.; and Robert 
Earl (Bobby) Gray and his wife Mary Louise, of Wilson; grandchildren, Victor 
Morris and wife Teresa, of Kinston, Lisa Duncan and husband Danny of 
Fuquay-Varina, Robert Gray of Greensboro, Neil Gray and wife Gwendolyn, of 
Chapel Hill, Cleveland Gray and Wife Fran, of San Diego, Calif., Connie Carlton 
and husband Steve, of Trenton, and Kelly Gray and wife Kimberly of Fairfield, 
Pa.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Duncan, Victoria Morris, Simon Gray and 
Verionica Gray, Charlie Gray, Noah Gray, Samuel Gray, Brandon Gray, Justin 
Gray, Abigail Gray, Ashley Gray, Meghan Palko, Daniel White, Ashley Carlton, 
and Alyssa Carlton; great great grandson, Turner White; and her brother, Jesse 
Parker Tyndall and wife Olivia, of Wilson.  The family will receive visitors from 
2-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, 1608 
West Vernon Avenue, Kinston, and other times at the home of Victor and 
Teresa Morris, 1205 Stockton Road, Kinston.  Funeral services will follow the 
visitation at 3 p. m.   Burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Kinston.

5019 Nations Crossing, Suite 217, Charlotte, NC 28217.  Funeral arrangements
