Robert Ivey Sutton, Jr. Headstone Robert Ivey Sutton, Jr. Obituary Robert Ivey Sutton, Jr. Born: Sept. 5, 1889 Died: April 12, 1961 Robert Ivey Sutton Robert Ivey Sutton, 72, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, died at his home 112 East Peyton Avenue about 3 p. m. Wednesday, April 12, 1961, after a brief illness. He was a native of Lenoir County and the son of the late Robert I. and Wilmeth (sic) Taylor Sutton of Lenoir County, but resided in Canton, Ohio, since 1912 until some eight months ago when he returned to Kinston to make his home. He was a member of St. John’s Lodge No. 4, AF and AM, in Kinston for 49 years, a member of the Scottish Rite, the Brotherhood of Engineers of the Pennsylvania Railroad, a veteran of World War I and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Funeral services will be at Howard and Carter Funeral Chapel at 3 p. m. Friday. Rev. John Snyder, Presbyterian, will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. Members of St. John’s Masonic Lodge will have charge of services at the graveside and will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen T. Sutton of the home; two step-sons, Melvin Fordham of Kinston, and Richard Fordham of Anacortes, Wash.; one step-daughter, Margaret Stanford of the home; four brothers, Wyche and V. B. of Kinston, and Herman L. of LaGrange and Quincey of Warsaw; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Taylor of Arapahoe and Mrs. Arthur Tyndall of Kinston; several nieces and nephews.
