Wreck kills one

A 23 year old Kinston man was killed in a two vehicle accident after he apparently
failed to stop his truck at the intersection of rural paved roads 1091 and 1704 near
Hugo at 7:10 a.m. Thursday.
Russell Kelly Lee, 23, of Kinston Route 5 was killed instantly in the crash.
He was driving a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck east on RPR 1704 when he drove
through the intersection. His vehicle collided with a 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
being driven by George Allen Taylor, 30, of Hookerton traveling south on RPR 1091.
The Taylor car struck the truck on the driver’s side door.
Taylor was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries
early this morning.
Neither Taylor or Lee were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Highway Patrol reports.
Trooper M. R. Cain investigated the accident. No charges have been filed
