Virginia A. Wood
Virginia Askew Wood, 92, of Kinston Rehabilitation & Health Care, died Thursday, Dec.
13, 2001 at Kinston Rehabilitation & Health Care. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Sam Wood of McMinnville, Tenn. Her deceased parents were James R. a
nd Anna Askew. She lived many years in Nashville, Tennessee working as an office
clerk for motels. Services will be held at 7 pm Monday night, December 17, 2001 at
Howard, Carter & Stroud Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Fletcher of Faith Lutheran
Church officiating. Visitation will follow immediately after the service. Private interment
will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2001 at Westview Cemetery.
Survivors include two brothers, Ben V. Askew and wife, Elizabeth, and E. W. Askew and
wife, all of Kinston and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Help Fund, 709 West Vernor Ave., Kinston, N.C.
