Charles Earl Edwards KINSTON - Charles Earl Edwards, age 82, of 2687 Forrest Drive, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at his residence. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII for 3˝ years. Mr. Edwards was a retired Master Trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol with 20 years of service and a retired mag-istrate with 13˝years of service. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Ed Burch officiating. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery. He was the son of the late William Jasper Edwards and Pauline Newell Edwards of Greenville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Earl Edwards Jr.; and is survived by his wife, Ruth Moore Edwards of the home; a daughter, Diane E. Tilghman of Dunn, N.C.; a son, Jeff D. Edwards and wife Brenda, of Clinton, N.C.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church prior to the service.
