October 13, 1921. Charlotte Observer. STRICKEN AT WOMEN'S BOOTH KINSTON FAIR Kinston, Oct. 2 - Mrs. Kate Daley Speed, wife of Edward Y. Speed died in a hospital here early today as a result of a stroke of apoplexy suffered yesterday while she was aiding in a church women's booth at the local fair. She was 47 years of age and well known in the state. Her husband is a prominent tobacconist and churchman. Brothers and sisters of Mrs. Speed reside at Durham, Farmville, Kinston, Mebane, Rocky Mount, burlington and elsewhere. Mrs. Speed was a native of Alamance county. The body was sent to Durham for the funeral tomorrow forenoon. Please do not contact me as I do not have any information on these individuals.
