LA GRANGE - Ronald Lee Dudley, 28, of 3622 Bryan Hardy Road, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, 
at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. 
The funeral will be held at noon, Friday, Dec. 5 at St. Rest United Holy Church in La Grange 
with Pastor Raymond Suggs officiating. Burial will follow in the La Grange Cemetery. 
Survivors include his wife, Annie Lee Dudley and sons, Jeronte Equon Dudley and Demaceus 
Ny'Keeill Dudley, all of the home; father Levon Dudley of La Grange; step mother Angela Dudley

GREENVILLE - Willie Gray King Jr., 70, of 1203 Myrtle Ave. died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 
Golden Living Nursing Home.

Jones, Sandra Jean Holland 

SUFFOLK, Va. - Sandra Jean Holland Jones, 62, passed away November 28, 2008. She 
was born in Suffolk, Va., May 21, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Lyman R. Holland 
and Nan Elizabeth Liles Holland. She was a 1964 graduate of Holland High School and 
attended Louise Obici School of Professional Nursing. She was employed on a part-time as 
well as full-time basis with the Circuit Court of the City of Suffolk for approximately 33 years,
 until her retirement February 1, 2008. 
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Earl T. Jones Jr.; two sons, Earl T. Jones, III and 
wife Karen, of Suffolk, Va., Michael H. Jones and wife Anna, of Midlothian, Va.; daughter 
Nancy J. Negri and husband Dan, of Wilmington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Brennan Tyler 
Jones, Hayden Christopher Jones and Mya Elizabeth Negri. She is also survived by her 
brother, Dr. Lyman Lyle Holland and wife Brenda, of Kinston, N.C.; nephew Jeffrey Lyle Holland 
and wife Beth, of Morganton, N.C.; niece Stephanie Holland Stallings and husband Gus, of 
Charlotte, N.C.; and great-nephews, Clifton Lyle Holland, Holland Augustus Stallings and 
Kenneth Hayden Stallings. 
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008, in the R.W. Baker & 
Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk, by the Rev. Michael D. Halley.

Knott, Mary Faulkner Wilkinson 

KINSTON - Mary Faulkner Wilkinson Knott, 77, of Kinston, went to be with her Lord and Savior 
on Sunday, November 30, 2008. Mrs. Knott was born May 17, 1931, in Granville County to the 
late George Propus and Lucille Walker Wilkinson. 
She was the loving wife of 48 years of the late Sidney R. Knott. She was preceded in death by 
her three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Knott graduated from Women's College (now UNCG) 
with a teaching degree. She and her husband came to Kinston in 1956 on their honeymoon 
and made Kinston their new home. Mrs. Knott taught 3rd and 4th grades at Harvey Elementary 
School until the birth of her first child, at which time she chose to devote her life to rearing her 
three children and nurturing a loving Christian home. Mary and Sidney joined First Baptist Church 
where they remained lifelong, dedicated members. Mrs. Knott was a teacher and member of the
 Laura McDaniel Sunday School Class and a former director of the Women's Missionary Union 
(WMU). She was a devout supporter of mission programs through her church and the Neuse 
Baptist Association. 
Survivors include her three children, Julie K. Watson and husband Don, of Wilson, Robert Knott 
and wife Hope, of Clayton, Alice K. Herring and husband Lenny, of Hookerton; grandchildren Eva 
and Brandon Watson, Cathy and Taylor Knott and Casey Herring; sister Frances Crute and 
husband James, of Nelson, Va.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive 
friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at First Baptist Church. 
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Dr. Chuck Towery officiating. Graveside services will be 
held at 3:30 p.m. at Knott's Grove Cemetery in Oxford, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be

Harrell, Elmer Pete 

WALSTONBURG - Mr. Elmer Pete Harrell, 79, passed away Monday evening, December 1, 
2008, at his home. A native of Greene County, he was born October 28, 1929, the son of 
Jesse Frank and Clyde Hardison Harrell. Pete was a retired tobacco farmer and had worked 
at Greene County Recycling Station #5 since his retirement from farming.
 Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 4, at the Snow Hill Cemetery 
with the Reverend Alan Joyner and the Reverend Melvin Moore officiating. 
His surviving family includes his wife, Betty Wainwright Harrell; children, Cathy Harrell Webb 
and husband Jerry, of Stantonsburg, Donnie Harrell of Walstonburg, Randy Harrell of 
Walstonburg, and Lisa Harrell Jones and fianc? Edward Jones, of Snow Hill; sisters, Kathleen 
Smith, Margaret Wise and Tiny Lee Fulford, all of Farmville; brothers, Billy Ray Harrell and 
Charles Russell Harrell both of Walstonburg; sisters-in-law, Irene Harrell and Odean Harrell both 
of Walstonburg; grandchildren, Angel Harrell, Candi Moore, Crystal Potter, Brandi Holland,

Petty, Mary Bryan 

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Mary Bryan Petty, 73, of Rapid City, S.D., died Wednesday, November 
26, 2008, at the Golden Living Bella Vista Center from Alzheimer's disease. 
Mary was born December 25, 1934, in Kinston, N.C. to Leon Alton, Sr. and Mildred (Fulcher) 
Pittman. She later moved to Enid, Okla., working for ServAir as an office manager at Vance 
Air Force Base. She married Ronald Petty, and had two sons, Ron II and John. She left her
job at the air force base to help run, first, her husband's chinaware business, and later, his 
construction and real estate rental businesses. In 2003, she moved to Rapid City, S.D. with 
her family. Mary will always be remembered for her warmth and Southern charm. She always 
knew how to make your day better with a kind word or thoughtful gesture. Mary was a strong, 
energetic woman who lit up the room with her smile and loved to laugh. 
Survivors are her former husband, Ronald E. Petty of Rapid City, S.D.; her sons, Ron 
(Elizabeth) Petty, II; and John (Michelle) Petty; all of Rapid City; her five grandchildren, Ronald 
"Trey" Petty of Stillwater, Okla., Joseph Petty of Kennesaw, Ga., Maggie Petty of Richmond Hill, 
Ga., Madison Petty and Jennifer Petty of Rapid City, S.D.; and her brother, Leon (Marie) Pittman,

Wynne, Russell Bailey 


EVERETTS - Russell Bailey Wynne, 82, of 11911 U.S. Hwy 64, Williamston, N.C., died 
Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at his home. Born Sept. 21, 1926, in Martin County, he was the 
son of the late Johnnie Bryant Wynne and Modie Bell Bailey Wynne. Russell was a 
Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, and retired maintenance worker with the 
NCDOT. He attended First Baptist Church in Washington. Preceding him in death is a son, 
Bobby Wynne and brother, James Harry Wynne. Married Feb. 4, 1950, he is survived by 
his wife, Jackie Tuten Wynne of the home; his son, Jimmy Wynne of Everetts; daughter 
Gloria Ann Blake and husband Chuck, of Kinston; sister Nina Leggett of Bear Grass; and 
his grandchildren, Robert Blake and Bailey Blake. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.

Pridgen, Julian F. 

FORT BARNWELL - Julian F. Pridgen, 75, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008. 
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday December 6, 2008, in the 
Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will follow in Griffin Family Cemetery. 
Mr. Pridgen, a native of Greene County, had spent most of his life in Ft. Barnwell. For 28 
years he was employed with A.P. Grocery Store in Kinston, and later was involved in 
carpentry for several years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Korean 
War, and was a member of the VFW Post in Kinston. Mr. Pridgen was a member of Lane's 
United Methodist Church. 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Griffin Pridgen. He is survived by his wife, J
oyce Harris Pridgen; daughter Audrey Riggs Jones and husband Jeff, of Ft. Barnwell; grandchildren, 
Crystal Rivenbark and husband, Matt, Jonathan Riggs and wife, Jenn, and Barry Riggs; 
great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Megan, Brooke, PeggyMae, Victoria, Noah, and Parker; 
step-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason and Kellee Jones, and Stacey Moore; six step-great-grandchildren; 
brothers Duloye Pridgen, of Kinston, David Pridgen and wife Lillian, of La Grange; and sisters,

Heath, Pauline Stroud 

PINK HILL - Ms. Pauline Stroud Heath breathed her last breath on earth and took her 
first step in heaven on December 4, 2008. Ms. Heath was born in Pink Hill on May 22, 
1923, the daughter of the late Ernest and Edith Stroud. She married the late Albert 
"Jack" Heath in 1941 and was a devoted Army wife for over 20 years. 
Pauline returned to Pink Hill to the house she was born in after her husband retired 
from the Army. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and volunteering. She was a 50 plus 
year Eastern Star member; volunteered and contributed to the Flynn Home in Kinston 
and volunteered as a Red Cross Associate. Pauline was an active member of Alcoholics 
Anonymous, and aided in counseling new members to the AA program. She attended 
Pink Hill Presbyterian Church for many years before she moved to the Sterling House 
Assisted Living Facility in New Bern, N.C. the last few years of her life. 
Pauline is survived by her sons, Dennis Heath and wife Karen, of Kwajalein, Marshall 
Islands and Daniel Heath and wife Ginger, of New Bern; and grandchildren, Rebekah
 Heath, Kimberly Heath and Amie Heath. 
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Howard-Carter 
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2008, at the
 Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Cox officiating. Burial will follow at the Quinn-Stroud

Mattie Mae Aswell 
KINSTON - Mattie Mae Aswell went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, 
December 8, 2008, after a long battle with declining health. 
She was born March 16, 1928, in Lenoir County. She was the daughter of the late 
James A. and Bessie Helen Harrell Clark. Ms. Aswell lived her entire life in Lenoir 
County and worked  a caregiver. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Aswell; her sisters, Nellie Clark 
Moore and Kathleen Clark Moore; her brothers, Quincy A. Clark, Cecil W. Clark 
and Raymond B. Clark; her granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Bryant; and her sons-in-law, 
Milton Price, William "Bill" Harris, Jr. and James "Jim" Daughety, Jr. ‘
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, from the 
chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Ham officiating. Interment will

KINSTON - Virginia Hardy Hill, age 86, went to be with the lord, peacefully Sunday, 
December 7, 2008, surrounded by her family. For the past 14 years she resided at 
2201 Royal Ave. Goldsboro, N.C. She was formerly of 2174 Hugo Road, Kinston, N.C. 
Mrs. Hill was born July 1, 1922, in Greene County, N.C. to the late Pinkney Arthur 
Hardy and Claude Cunningham Hardy. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Lee Roy Hill; daughter Faye Hill Wallace; son Roy Ronald Hill; granddaughter 
Brenda Faye Hill; brothers Quincy, William, Thomas and Benjamin Hardy. 
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday December 9, 2008, at Edwards 
Funeral Home in Kinston, with the Rev. Paul Price and the Rev. Walter Gaskins 
officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Snow Hill Cemetery in 
Snow Hill, N.C. 
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Hill Bennett and husband Donald, of 
Pensacola, Fla., Betty Hill Dail and husband Delna G. Dail Sr., of Wilson, N.C., 
Dawn Hill Gaskins and husband Walter, of Kinston; a son, Herman Lee Hill of Kinston.

Hardison, Harold Lloyd 

FOUNTAIN - Mr. Harold Lloyd Hardison, 81, passed away Tuesday morning, 
December 9, 2008, at the Hardison homeplace outside of Snow Hill. 
A native of Greene County, he was born January 16, 1927, the son of William 
Arthur Hardison and Mollie Beadie Beaman Hardison. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army and after having completed his enlistment there, joined the U.S. Air 
Force where he served for more than 20 years, retiring as a TSGT.
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dember 12, at the chapel of 
Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Alan Joyner officiating. Interment
will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. 
Mr. Hardison is survived by his sisters, Mary Hardison and Selma Lanway both 
of Snow Hill, Minnie Matthews of South Carolina, and Kay Kearney and husband

Heath, Annie Cathrine Casper 

SEVEN SPRINGS - Annie Cathrine Casper Heath, 87, of 1976 Burn Coat Road, 
passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 9, 
2008 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. 
Ms. Heath was born August 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Rome and Alpha 
Casper. She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She married 
the late Adolph Heath in 1941 and was a devoted farmers wife and homemaker. 
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Adolph Heath and her son 
Herman Heath. 
Survivors left to cherish her memory include two daughters Brenda Jenkins and 
husband James of Kinston, Glenda Tilghman and husband Billy of Grifton, one son 
Earl Heath of Seven Springs, and one daughter-in-law Marie Heath of Kinston, three 
sisters Tempie Lee of Pink Hill, Meltha Smith of Kinston and Ronell Cuddington of 
Grifton. Eight grandchildren Gray Jenkins and Kelly, Melissa Hill and Wayne all of 
Pink Hill, Mickey Jenkins and Shannon, Steven Heath and Laurinda, Wayne Heath 
and Amy all of Kinston, Cathy Jones and Martin of Snow Hill, Chris Tilghman and 
Allison, Ben Tilghman and Shawn all of Grifton and a step grandchild Susan Hasse 
and Joey of Kinston. Sixteen great grandchildren Lindsey, Daulton, Cody and Raeli 
Jenkins, D. J. Hill, Garrett and Kattie Jones, Bailey, Cooper, Zachary and Drew

LA GRANGE - Margaret Teachey Daugherty, 86, of La Grange went to be with 
her Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. 
She was affectionately known to her children and grand-children as "Mema." 
Mrs. Daugherty lived in Lenoir County for most of her life, even though she was 
born in Duplin County. She was the greatest Mom and Grandma in the world. 
She worked at Albain Shirt Company for 18 years before retiring; was an avid 
gardener; a homemaker, and a joy to be around. She loved listening to gospel 
music. Mrs. Daugherty is survived by her husband of 65 happy years, Harry 
Daugherty; seven children, Evelyn and Ralph Ginn of Goldsboro, Larry and 
Yvonne Daugherty and Linda Vance, all of La Grange, Elaine and Arthur Pridgen 
of Snow Hill, Louise and James Tyndall, Debbie and Greg Scheller, and Harry

Thompson, Rachel Mozingo 

SEVEN SPRINGS - Rachel Mozingo Thompson, 84, formerly of Seven Springs, 
died Tuesday, December 9, 2008. 
Mrs. Thompson was born, April 2, 1924, in Wayne County to the late George 
Frank Mozingo and Rosa Belle Quinn Mozingo. In addition to her parents, she 
was preceded in death by a daughter, Olivia Dawn Thompson; son Jimmy Ray 
Thompson; two sisters, Elizabeth Mozingo Hardy and Lucille Mozingo Ellis; 
and five brothers, Delmar, Edward, Pat, Charles and James Mozingo. 
She operated Rachel's Grill in Seven Springs and for many years was active in 
the Seven Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Thompson was a 
member of Seven Springs Baptist Church. 
A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, 
from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Bartlett officiating. Interment will 
be Friday at 11 a.m. from Pineview Cemetery.

Houston, Roland 

PINK HILL - Roland Houston, a resident of Potters Hill, age 86, died Thursday, 
December 11, 2008, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston, N.C.
 Roland was a loving and caring husband and father. He was a proud World 
War II veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Upon his return home 
from the army, he married and farmed until retirement. He enjoyed spending 
time with his wife and children. He was an animal lover and enjoyed driving in 
his car viewing the countryside. Roland was born in Duplin County and was 
preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Mary Houston; brothers, Clegg, 
Claro, Jim Bob, and Kenneth Houston; a sister, Verdie Mae Houston Miller; 
a daughter-in-law, Mary Houston; and a grandchild, Roy M. Houston, Jr. 
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Edwards Houston, of the home; 
sons Carlton Ray and wife Jean, of Potters Hill, N.C., Roy Mac and friend 
Margaret, of Pink Hill, N.C., Charles and wife Bridgett, of Kinston, Jackie 
and fianc? Cathy Jones, of Pink Hill, N.C., Glenn and wife Connie, of Potters 
Hill, N.C.; daughters, Wanda Howard and husband, James, of Deep Run, N.C.,

Humphrey, Felix West "Pete" 

CLINTON - Mr. F.W. "Pete" Humphrey, 82, of 100-A Wilson Street, died at 
Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, Monday, November 24, 2008. 
A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist 
Church with Dr. Ed Gunter officiating.
 Born in 1926 in Lenoir County, Mr. Humphrey was the son of the late Daniel 
and Alice Waller Humphrey. He was a member of the First United Methodist 
Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a retired N.C. State Trooper 
after 37 years of service.
 He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Humphrey; one daughter, 
Lou Ann and husband Dwight Horne, of Clinton; one son, Michael and wife 
Myra Humphrey, of Lumberton; seven grandchildren and eight 
great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Ann Parsons of Winston-Salem; and brother, 
Courtney Humphrey of Kinston. 
He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Smith.

DOVER - Patricia Ann Vernon Bell, 61, of Dover passed away on Tuesday, 
December 30, 2008. Born in Lenoir County on August 5, 1947, she was the 
daughter of the late Jack and Carrie Mae Thompson Vernon. In addition to 
her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roosevelt Quinn, 
Leslie Quinn, Felix Quinn, Robert Earl Creel and Harden Tyndall. Mrs. Bell 
was employed by Hampton Industries and will be remembered as a loving 
wife, mother, and aunt who enjoyed crafts, dancing, and spending time with
 family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Samuel Bell of the 
home; daughter, Rhonda Lynn Rouse of Hugo; son, Gerald Maurice Rouse Jr.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Dorothy "Dot" Alice Trammell Dillard, 80, of Charleston, S.C., loving 
wife of 60 years to Robert E. Dillard, went to be with her Lord, December 15, 2008, in 
Charleston, S.C.

 Born November 27, 1928, in Keysville, Va., Mrs. Dillard was a loving homemaker.

Anderson, Ruth Balentine 

(January 11, 1916 - December 15, 2008) 
BOONE - Mrs. Ruth Balentine Anderson, age 92, wife of the late Frank R. Anderson, 
passed away quietly Monday evening, December 15, 2008, at Blowing Rock Extended 
Care Facility in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. 
Born in Salem, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Linwood P. Balentine and 
Florence L. (Plummer) Balentine. She graduated from Tops-field (MA) Academy in 1933 
and continued her education at Salem Commercial School. Al-though she worked in the 
area of insurance and banking, she was a homemaker for most her life. She lived for many 
years in South Hampton, New Hampshire and Crystal Beach, Florida, moving to the Boone, 
North Carolina area in 2001.
 Surviving her is her daughter, Sally L. Anderson of Boone and her son, F. William 
Anderson and his wife Deborah, of Kinston, North Carolina. Also surviving are four 
grandchildren, Laury Sargeant and her husband Jon, Jennifer Martin and her husband Dan, 
Amy Albritton and her husband Lee, and Lisa C. Lalla; five great-grandchildren, and several 
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther P. Balentine and 
Eleanor L. Marean; and a brother, Alvah H. Bale-tine.
A private memorial service for Mrs. Ruth Balentine Anderson will be conducted in Kinston, 
North Carolina. Burial will take place in Clearwater, Florida. Expressions of sympathy in

Manning Jr., James Thomas 

GREENVILLE - Mr. James Thomas "J.T." Manning, Jr., 85, died Thursday, December 
18, 2008 after several years of declining health. 
The funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. 
Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. 
Mr. Manning, a native and lifelong resident of the Red Oak community of Pitt County, 
was a graduate of Winterville High School and attended North Carolina State College, 
now NCSU. He served during World War II in the 83rd General Hospital Unit of the 
United States Army and was stationed in the European Theater for more than three 
years without coming home. 
Mr. Manning was the founder of Garner-Wynne-Manning, Inc. in Greenville and served 
as President and Chairman of the Board for 25 years until he sold his interest in the 
company in 1976. He then formed J. T. Manning Enterprises, LLC, an investment 
properties company. He was a member of Red Oak Christian Church where he served 
as Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Building Committee, Sunday School 
Superintendent, CMF president and a number of other positions. 
He helped organize the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department and served on the County 
Advisory Committee for organizing volunteer fire departments in Pitt County. He was a 
member of the William Pitt Masonic Lodge #734 A.F. & A.M. where he served on the 
Temple Board. He was also a member of the Greenville York Rite Bodies, the Scottish 
Rite Bodies and the Sudan Temple. For his out-standing services in obtaining property 
and helping with the building of the Pitt County Shrine Club, the J.T. Manning Lounge 
was named in his honor. He was a past chairman of the Pitt District of East Carolina 
Council of Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the District Award of Merit. He has 
hiked over 100 7miles of the Appalachian Trail with Boy Scout Troop #205. He was a 
charter member of the Greenville Exchange Club, now the Pitt-Greenville Civic Club. He 
served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Food Dealers Association and 
the Greenville City-County Planning and Zoning Board for a number of years. He was 
preceded in death by his brothers, Claude, Waddell and Charles Manning. 
He is survived by his: wife of 59 years, Rena Lowery Manning; son, Lt Col (Ret) James 
Thomas "Tommy" Manning, III and wife, Anne, of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Susan 
Manning McNeal, of Hendersonville, Faye Manning Armstrong and husband, Stan, of 
Greenville, and Dianne Manning Roper and husband, Tom, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, 
Rachel McNeal, of Wilson, Daniel and Stephen McNeal, of Hendersonville, Thomas Manning, 
of Waco, TX, Greta and Crystal Manning, of Hendersonville, and Shelley Roper, of Wake

Mrs. Bragg was born in Lexington, Va. to the late Theodore R. and Hazel Reynolds 
Mays. Funeral Mass will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mildred Catholic Church in 
Swansboro, N.C. with the Reverend Don Baribeau officiating. Entombment will follow at 
Seaside Memorial Park in Swansboro, N.C. 
Survivors include Patty's husband, Doctor Frank L. Bragg Sr. of the home; children 
Frank L. Bragg Jr. and his wife Kathleen, of Newell, W.Va., Mary Beth Daas and her 
husband Reilly, of Newport, N.C., T.R. Bragg and his wife Shannon Bragg, of Vero Beach, 
Fla., and David Bragg and his wife Christy of Peletier, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Kelly Rae 
Bragg, Derek Bragg, Chelsea Bragg, Caitlyn Daas, Robert Daas, Logan Bragg, Morgan 
Bragg and Braxton Bragg; one great-grandchild, Brendan Bragg; and uncle  James Mays 
of Tampa, Fla.

Ludwick, Mary E. 

Mary Joyce Eubanks Ludwick, age 65, a resident of 114 Paul Street, Washington, 
passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
 A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the First Baptist 
Church in Washington officiated by Dr. Jimmy Mo0ore and the Rev. Greg Barner. Jack 
Cherry, Hugh Barnett, Stan Edwards, Jeff Williamson, Paul Bright and Jimmy Johnson 
will serve as pallbearers. Interment for Ms. Ludwick will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 
30, at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, N.C. 
Ms. Ludwick was born in Greensboro, N.C., on February 17, 1943, daughter of the late 
Ernest Vernon Eubanks and Mary Alice Jones Eubanks. She was employed with East 
Carolina University in the School of Education. Ms. Ludwick was a member of the 
Greenville Choral Society as well as the Beaufort County Choral Society. She was a 
member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, where she served as a church clerk, 
teacher in the Blanche Elks Sunday School Class and a member of the sanctuary choir. 
She was a past member of the Toastmasters Club. 
She is survived by her son, Christopher Ludwick and his wife, Amy Davis Ludwick of 
Sonoma County, Calif., and their sons, Braxton Davis Ludwick and Bryce Christopher 
Ludwick; her daughter, Laura Ludwick Cannon and her husband, Bryan Cannon of Kinston; 
her beloved companion, Bill Dunn of Bath; her sister, Evelyn Sewell of Greensboro; and her 
two nieces, Vicki McSetters and Sherry Spurrier. 
The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family 
requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry Endowment

Clements, Daryl Tart 

GRIFTON - Mrs. Daryl Tart Clements, 76, Went to be with our Lord on Christmas Day. 
She was at home in Grifton. Mrs. Clements was born May 20, 1932 in Sampson Co. to 
Craven and Ruby Britt Tart.
A devoted wife, sister, mother, friend and nurse, Daryl fulfilled all her roles in this life with 
grace, love and humility. She worked as a nurse and retired from Du-Pont Industries and 
Caswell Center, Kinston. She was a member of St. Johns & St. Marks Episcopal Church, 
the Grifton Rescue Auxiliary, Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She was also a V.F.W. Auxiliary member. 
Flowers are welcome, however if one wishes, memorial contributions may be made to St. 
John's - St. Mark's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 937,Grifton, NC 28530 or the Grifton Rescue 
Squad.
 Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Alton Bruce Clements, of the home; one son, 
Alton Bruce Clements Jr. and wife, Scotti, of New Bern; sister, Mildred Tart Mitchell, of Grifton; 
grandchildren, Anna Clements, of Ayden and Adam Clements, of New Bern; step-brothers, 
Ernest F. Albritton, of Grifton and Carlton Albritton, of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. 
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Service-Ayden and 
other times at 6776 Dupont St., Grifton. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 28,
