May 28,1998? Ervin Harper Shepherd,70,of 1897 Greene Haynes Road died May 27 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.Shepherd was a retired carpenter.He was the arthur of the book "Hilarious Life of Private Shepherd".He was a member of the Revival Mission Church where he served as a deacon and a gospel singer.He served in the U.S.Army during World War II in Germany and France.Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Garner Funeral Home chapel in Kinston with the Rev.Marion Humphrey and the Rev.Norman Boy- ette officiating.Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.Survivers include his wife Julia Sandlin Shepherd of the home;seven daughters,Rose Marie Nichols of Georgia,Georgia Hudler of the home,Linda Johnson,Carol Henderson and Tammy Lane,-- article was missing bottom?
