KINSTON - Florine P. Strickland "Miss Jo" 77, of Kinston went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church. Miss Jo worked as a cashier at Piggy Wiggly for over 33 years, she was the type of person that when you came in the Piggy Wiggly she may not have known your name at first but when you left she did forever. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Strickland; mother, AnnieMay Lloyd; father Claude Lloyd; sister, Jeannette Vick and Faye Radford. Survivors include, daughter, Susan L. Huebotter and husband Harvey; son Robert James Strickland, Jr.; Wilson L. Humphrey her companion for over 25 years; sisters, Shirley Gupton and husband Frances and Margie Finch; brother George Jeffries and wife Irene; grandchildren; Bobbie Jo Hines and husband Daniel, Harvey Lester Huebotter, Jr. and wife Catherine, Leigh Annette Jennings and husband Jon' John Robert Stanley and wife Stephanie Natasha Jade Strickland, Robert Caleb Strickland and Kyle Davis Strickland; Great grandchildren, Carrie-Ann Nicole Hamilton, Nicholas Daniel Hines, Austin Drew Stanley, Catlin Nicole Jennings and Rylee Elizabeth Stanley; special friends Annette W. Strickland and Jonathan McLawhorn. The family will receive friends from 1:00 ? 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Funeral Home with Reverend Haywood Smith officiating. Private burial will follow. A special thanks to the staff of 3HC of Kinston and Miss Pearl for the loving care they gave to her.
