Obituary of Floyd Lee Gay ~ 2010

Floyd Lee Gay 

KINSTON - Floyd Lee Gay, 73, of 1856 Dunn Family Road, Kinston, died on Saturday, 
Jan. 23, 2010, following a very short battle with cancer. Floyd was preceded in death 
by his parents, George and Betty Gay; a sister, JoAnn Gay; brothers George Franklin 
Gay and Earl Junior Gay; and a son-in-law, Charles Silverthorne Sr. In lieu of flowers, 
memorials may be made to the American Can-cer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, 
Greenville, NC 27834. Survivors include his sole purpose for living, his loving wife of 45 
years, Edna C. Gay; sons George A. Gay and wife Cindy, of Farmville, Dennis Dunford 
and wife Joyce, of Tennessee; daughters Mae Bowman and husband Thomas, Charlotte 
Silverthorne and Agnes Penney and husband Oral Lee, of Virginia; brothers William Gay 
and wife Betsy, of Fremont and Melvin Gay and wife Ida, of Kinston; sisters Virginia 
Lancaster of Virginia, Louise Jones of Grifton and Alice Martin of Stantonsburg; the apple 
of his eye, grand-daughter Lynn Ricks; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, 
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. 
Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, from the chapel of Farmer Funeral Service, Ayden with the
