Obituary of George Graham Lewis -- 2009

Contributed by Jeanette Corcoran

LA GRANGE - George Graham Lewis met his Savior face to face on Monday,
January 19, 2009.

Graham lived with a passion for helping others. His love, compassion and generosity
were evident in every aspect of his life. He enjoyed fishing, gospel music and his
grandchildren. Graham was a member of Community Baptist Church. He worked as
an engineer and machinist. He was founder and owner of Wayne Machine Company
in Goldsboro until diagnosed with lung cancer in 1993. He said, "God has blessed me
in life. We are placed on this earth to love and serve the Lord and then go home to live
with Him for eternity."

Graham never complained through disappointing diagnosis or pain. He believed that if
one person came to know Jesus Christ through his illness, it would be worth it all. He
thought of others at each stage of his illness-his family, friends, doctors and nurses-with
little thought or worry for himself.

A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, from Rouse
Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Wheeless and Chris McCallister officiating. Interment
will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from Wayne Memorial Park.
