Obituary of James “Jimmy” Daughety II -- 2006

Kinston—James “Jimmy” Daughety II, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, after a 
period of declining health.  He was born Sept. 3, 1940.  His mother, Hilda 
Hyland and stepfather, Art Hyland, predeceased him.  Jimmy served 3 ½ 
years in the U.S. Air Force.  He owned and operated Jimmy Daughety 
Rentals.  He lived life to the fullest and loved his time spent with family and 
friends.  He loved to bring laughter to those around him and always had a 
good joke to tell.  He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Janet Clark 
Daughety; his father J. Woodward Daughety and stepmother Rachel Daughety 
of Kinston; children, James “Jim” Daughety III and wife Stella and Lynn  
Daughety Whaley and husband Joey, all of Kinston, Eddie Newman and wife 
Jennifer of Virginia Beach, VA.; grandchildren Sandra Renee Daughety, James 
Woodward  Daughety IV, Lindsay Wray Whaley, Kayle Newman, Kyle Newman 
and Georgia Faye Newman, brothers, Thomas Edward Daughety and wife Ellen 
of New Bern,  Robert Lee “Bobby” Daughety and wife Annette of Kinston and 
stepsister Judy Grant and husband Terry of Georgia.  Funeral services will be 
held at 7 pm Thursday, Aug. 3 at Edwards Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick 
Vernon officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service and 
other times at the home.  Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Westview 
Cemetery.  Please send memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O. 
Box 639 Wilson, NC 27894 in honor of his special nephew, Robbie Daughety.
