LA GRANGE - James Erwin "Bill" Taylor, 72, of 5002 Frink School Road, died Monday, January 19, 2009. Bill was born June 8, 1936, in Lenoir County to the late Ollie Dan Taylor, Sr. and Emma Phelps Taylor. He was a lifelong farmer and worked 16 years with Caswell Center. Bill was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was formerly president of the Bethel Men's Club and twice received Bethel's Man Of The Year Award. He served on the Lenoir County ABC Board and graduated from La Grange High School in 1956. Bill enjoyed bird hunting, baseball and was an avid NCSU fan. A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009, at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Williams and the Rev. T.C. West officiating. Interment will be Friday at 2 p.m. from Fairview Cemetery. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Braswell Taylor; daughter, Retha Jo Ginn and husband Mike, of La Grange; three grandchildren, Taylor Ginn and special family friend, Sara Farmer, Scotty Ginn and Chad Ginn; sister, Emma Griffin of Clovis, Calif.; five brothers, John Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., Wiley Taylor of Liberty, William Ray Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles E. Taylor of Topeka, Kan. and Phillip N. Taylor of Wilmington; his faithful canine companion, Toby; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Mary Hensley, Margaret Terrell, Ollie Dan Taylor, Jr. and Jean Taylor Hinson.
