Pink Hill--James Thomas Spence,Jr..age 76,of Route 1,Pink Hill died Saturday,August 29 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.He was a retired farmer.He was preceded in death by his son Lt.James Thomas Spence,III.Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Pink Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.Don Gray officiating.Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.Surviving is his wife,Lillian T.Spence of the home,a daughter,Linda S. Rhodes,of Pink Hill;a sister,Erma Spence,of Pink Hill;four grandchildren,Grover Frederick Rhodes,Jr.,of Bennington Vt.,William Bradley Rhodes,of New Bern,Robin Neal Rhodes,of Little Rock,Ark.,and Kristie Spence Rhodes,of Winston-Salem;and two great grandchildren.
