Obituary of Joseph Franklin Tyndall -- 2009

DEEP RUN - Joseph Franklin Tyndall, 82, of Deep Run entered into the presence of God 
on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at his home. 

Joe, born on April 22, 1926, to Jimmie L. and Ozella L. Tyndall of Pink Hill, was first and 
foremost a man of Christian values. He loved his Lord, his church, his family and his Country, 
which he served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his discharge in 
1946, Joe enrolled at North Carolina State College, where he received a BS degree in 
Agricultural Education in 1951. 

On October 19, 1946, Joe married Nannie Harper of Deep Run. After graduation from NC 
State, they moved to Jackson, N.C. where Joe began his teaching career at Jackson High 
School. He continued his teaching career, which spanned a total of 34 years, at Moss Hill 
School, Jones Senior High School, Trexler Middle School, and finally, Richlands High 
School from which he retired on June 30, 1988. 

Joe was a charter member of Deep Run First Baptist Church, where he served in many 
capacities, including Deacon and teaching the Adult Sunday School class for so many 
years that in October 2007, the class was named the "Joe Tyndall Sunday School Class." 
Joe was also a member of the Deep Run Ruritan Club where he served as President and 
also as District Governor. He was a member of the American Legion Post 379 and the 
Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge #304. 

Mr. Tyndall is survived by his wife, Nannie H. Tyndall; son, James P. Tyndall and wife Jean, 
of Deep Run; daughters, Valeria T. Taylor of Deep Run and Nancy T. Smith and husband 
Ray, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Taylor, Stan, Casey and Candace 
Smith; sister, Elizabeth T. Herring of Mount Olive; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray and Dot 
Blizzard of Deep Run and Charles Williams of Cary; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at Deep Run First 
Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at the 
Church with Pastors Dave Fishman and Jimmie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at 
Pinelawn Memorial Park.
