Obituary of Laura Sally Stilley Stroud -- 2003

PINK HILL—Laura Sally Stilley Stroud, 93, of 4797 Watering Pond Road, died 
Friday, June 20, 2003, at her home.  Mrs. Stroud had been a member of 
Christian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church since 1939.  She served as clerk for 
the church and held several other offices for many years.  Her hobbies were 
her vegetable and flower garden.  She was also a member of the Lenoir County 
Home Demonstration Club.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and 
great-grandmother, and friend to all.  The family extends a special thank-you to 
all of her caregivers.  Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2003, at 
the chapel of Pink Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Hargrove and Rev. 
Jimmy Mercer officiating.  Burial will be held at Stroud Family Cemetery.  
Survivors include one daughter, Audrey S. Powell of Pink Hill; son Graham Stroud 
and his wife, Joan, of Pink Hill; five grandchildren, Jonathan Stroud, Jessica 
Davenport, Walter Lee Powell, Jr., Robert Stroud Powell and Laura Gaye Powell; 
five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held 
from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Pink Hill Funeral Home.
