FORMER LOCAL
RESIDENT DIES

   Farmville, March 26 – Lemuel F. Daughety, 79, a lifelong resident of Kinston and 
Lenoir County before moving here eight years ago, died after a week’s illness at his 
home here about 10:30 p. m. Tuesday.
   The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday from the home and burial will be in 
Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston.   Rev. Z. B. T. Cox, Christian minister, will officiate.
   Daughety, a retired farmer, was the son of the late Catherine T. and B. Frank Daughety.  
He was a member of the Farmville Christian Church. 
     He was married to the former Lola Hodges, who died in 1929.  In 1932 he married the 
former Melissa Cox Gilbert, who survives along with his step-mother, Mrs. B. Frank 
Daughety of Hilton Village, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. R. D. Rouse of Farmville, Mrs. 
R. F. Eastman of New Orleans and Mrs. Perry Pratt of Wallace; four sons, Carl O. 
Daughety of Jacksonville, Fla., B. Frank Daughety of Lexington, L. F. Daughety, Jr. of 
Portsmouth, Va., and Harris Gilbert of Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Mrs. C. S. Andrews of 
Hilton Village; one brother, Frank M. Daughety of New York; eight grandchildren, and 
two great-grandchildren.
