FUNERAL OF LOVIT HINES ATTENDED BY MANY FRIDAY P.M.

The funeral of Lovit HINES, prominent citizen and industrial leader, was
conducted from his late residence on East Caswell Street Friday afternoon
at 5 O'clock. Interment was given in Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Bernard P.
SMITH of Gordon Street Christian Church conducted the funeral service. He
was assisted by Rev. Charles L. READ, pastor of the Queen Street Methodist
Church, and Rev. Francis J.H. COFFIN, rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

A number of out of town friends and relatives attended the obsequtries.
Included among them was Henry C. RILEY of Philadelphia, who was for many
years associated with Mr. HINES in the lumber business. The floral tributes,
numerous and handsome, attested the esteem in which the deceased was held
in the community.A coincidence to Mr. HINES' death which occurred a little
before 6 o'clock Thursday afternoon, was that it was the 13th anniversary
of his second marriage and within about an hour of the time.
