Lucille Kilpatrick

KINSTON – Lucille Kilpatrick, 90, of 1906 Carey Road, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at 
Pitt Memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late George Bryant Kilpatrick and 
Annie Greene Kilpatrick.  She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Thomas 
Knott Kilpatrick and wife, Kay Reeves Kilpatrick, John Greene Kilpatrick and George 
Franklin Kilpatrick, and a sister, Annie Laurie K. Fordham and husband Phillip Fordham.  
Miss Kilpatrick taught in Mt. Olive, Goldsboro and Kinston Public Schools and was a 
charter teacher at Arendell Parrott Academy.  She retired in 1975 after 45 years in the 
education profession.  She was a member of the Inta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma 
Honorary Society, and a lifelong member of Gordon Street Christian Church, having 
joined April 24, 1924.   Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, in 
Maplewood Cemetery with Dr. John A. L. Saunders officiating.  Visitation will be held at 
Edwards Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8:30 p. m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may 
be made to the Jones-Wooten Scholarship Fund, Arendell Parrott Academy, P.O. Box 
1297, Kinston, N.C. 28503.  Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.  (Pd. Obit.)
