Marilyn Angela Thompson BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Dr. Marilyn Angela Thompson, 57, of 537 Hancock St., Brooklyn, N.Y. and formerly of La Grange, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Thompson is the daughter of the late Mr. Hadie and Mrs. Mattie Thompson. Dr. Thompson graduated from Frink High School, Hampton University (Bachelors degree), The Catholic University of America (Masters degree), and Columbia University (Doctoral degree). She performed as a soprano nationally and internationally. She taught at Hampton University, Morgan State University, and Kentucky State University. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Jumping Run Church with Pastor W. Anthony Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange, N.C. Dr. Thompson is survived by aunts, Mrs. Edna A. Bryant of Kinston, N.C., Mrs. Laura A. Barnes of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Doris A. Jackson of Union, New Jersey, Mrs. Thelma A. Whitfield of West Haven, Connecticut; and uncle, Kenneth Aldridge of East Orange, New Jersey; and numerous other family members and friends. Visitation will be held Friday at Loftin Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. The family will meet friends Saturday at the church from 1-2 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
