Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Wall ~ 2010

DEEP RUN - Mary Elizabeth Wall, 61, of Deep Run passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010. She was born in Lenoir County on May 2, 1948, to the late David and Mildred Fordham Williams. Mrs. Wall was employed by William Barnet & Son. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary fought the battle of her life for three years with dignity, courage and perseverance. She loved her family and others dearly and it showed through the generous acts she did, crocheting hats and scarves for others with cancer at the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center. She was an active member of her Relay For Life team and Breast Cancer Support Group; enjoyed spending time with family and friends; loved cooking for her family and put the needs of others before her own. She was also a Licensed Funeral Director, having worked with both Howard-Carter and Garner Funeral Homes. Survivors include her husband Earl Wall of the home; daughter Joy Smith Barfield and husband Dwight, of Seven Springs; son Charles A. Smith Jr. and wife Priscilla, of Deep Run; grandchildren Caitlin Barfield and Austin Smith; sister Shirley Griffin and husband Odell, of Deep Run; brothers David Elwood Williams and wife Gayle, of Lake Butler, Fla. and Billy "Willie" Williams and wife Sandra, of Kinston; special canine companion Lexie; and many other special family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Deep Run Original F.W.B. Church with the Reverend Josh Whitfield officiating.
