July 10, 1978. The following obituary appeared in The Kinston Daily Free Press, Kinston, NC. "MILDRED PITTMAN DIXON: Mrs. Mildred Pittman Dixon, 75, of 910 N. College Street, died Sunday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Howard & Carter Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Survivors include a son, William C. Dixon Jr. of Regina, Canada; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann Baggs of Norfolk, Va., and Ms. Mary B. Dixon of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Charles Pittman of New Bern and Quincy Pittman of Willard; three sisters, Mrs. Aileen McGlohon of Willard, Mrs. Louis Burney of Ayden and Mrs. Christine Holt of Garner, and six grandchildren."
