SNOW HILL — Mr. Morris Linwood Fields, 72, passed away Sunday evening, Nov.10, 2002, at his home following an extended period of declining health. Funeral services will be held graveside 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Snow Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Grubbs of Hull Road Free Will Baptist Church, where Mr. Fields was a member, will officiate the service. Born the son of the late Lawrence Branch and Laura Hill Fields, he was a native and lifelong resident of the Arba community of Greene County. He had served his community as a charter member of the Arba Fire & Rescue Department, having served as its first president.He had a deep love and appreciation for antiques, whether it was farm machinery,tools, automobiles or furniture. Together with his wife, he shared his love of the"old timey way" by hosting field trips for the Snow Hill Primary School at their home, where they would raise sugar cane and make homemade molasses using mule powered mills and wood fired vats. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Fields had worked with the Greene County tax department.He was preceded in death earlier this year by his beloved wife, Angela McCoyFields.His surviving family includes his daughters, June Field Grant and Dianne Fields Harrison and husband, Gregory, all of Snow Hill; sisters, Helen Fields Hill of Snow Hill and Bernice Fields McLawhorn of Hookerton; grandchildren, April Grant of Ayden, Brande Grant of New Bern, Brad Harrison and wife, Danielle, Kristy Harrison and Holly Harrison, all of Snow Hill; and a great-grandson, Tyler Harrison.
