Obituary of Robert Earl Baker ~ 2010

Robert Earl Baker KINSTON - Robert Earl Baker age 79 of 1326 Strawberry Branch Road passed away Saturday January 16, 2010, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. He was born July 31, 1930 in Lenoir County. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the U.N. Service Medal. Mr. Baker worked for the Lenoir County Tax Office for 25 years. He was a life long member of Southwood Christian Church where he served as a former Deacon. He loved The Lord, his wife, his children, and the ECU Pirates. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Loftin Baker, his brothers, Billy Baker, John Curtis Baker, Newton Baker, Clarence "Duck" Baker and Douglas Baker, his sisters Iris Dupree and Margaret Branch. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday January 19, 2010 at Southwood Memorial Christian Church with Pastor Rick Vernon officiating. A private interment will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Susan Clifton Baker, children, Kathy Ratchford and husband Douglas of Manassas, Va., Bryan Baker and partner Stuart Woodfin of Bradenton, Fla., Michael Baker and wife Lisa of Bra-denton, Fla., grandchildren, Josh, Liza, Sam and Susanna Ratchford; Dana and Alex Perez of Bradenton, Fla., Ryan and Aaron Davis of Bradenton, Fla., Zachary Baker of Kinston; and a spe-cial great niece and caregiver Sarah Garner, brother, J.B. Baker and wife Diane of Kinston, sister, Mary Henderson and husband Dr. John R. Henderson of Kinston, numerous nieces and neph-ews, great nieces and great nephews. Following the church service the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to The Robert E.
