Obituary of Rowena Rice Jones ~ 2010

Rowena Rice Jones 

KINSTON - Rowena Rice Jones, age 77, of 2002 Sedgefield Drive, Kinston, died 
Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville. 
She was the daughter of the late Harold Smith Rice and Harriett Kellenberger Rice 
of Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University and was a 
member of Tri-Delt Sorority. She was a member of Queen Street United Methodist 
Church where she was a former leader of the UMW, and a retired travel agent at 
M&T Travel World. 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Queen Street 
United Methodist Church with Pastor Alan Bingham and the Rev. Mark Benson officiating. 
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westview Cemetery. 
Survivors include her husband, William C. B. "Barney" Jones of the home; two daughters, 
Valerie J. Howell (Ricky) of Princeton and Laura J. Clark (Ricky) of Kinston; and one 
granddaughter, Mary Lee Howell of Princeton. The family will receive friends following the 
church service in the fellowship hall. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Queen Street United Methodist Church,
