KINSTON - On Friday, January 16, 2009, at 11:20 p.m. at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina, Tessie Simmons Jones peacefully crossed over to receive her eternal reward, everlasting life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The funeral will be held at noon Thursday, January 22, 2009. Viewing will be held from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21 at Albritton-Carraway Funeral Home. The American Legion Auxiliary ceremony will be held at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Tessie leaves to celebrate and cherish her memories, a loving and devoted son, John W. Jones (Debra) of Kinston; five loving and caring daughters, Mary L. Mason of Waldorf, Md., Mamie J. Johnson (Victor) of Ft. Washington, Md., Vergie M. Chalmers of Oxon Hill, Md., Denderant Burney (Larry) of Kinston; Mavis C. Jones of Raleigh, N.C.; a guardian daughter, Annie Grimes Burt of Atlanta, Ga.; and one son-in-law, Joel Dixon of Mitchellville, Md. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arnetta L. Dixon; and a son, Earl K. Jones. Two beloved grandsons that she reared in her home, Terry G. Jones of Charlotte, N.C. and Garry L. Jones of Atlanta, Ga. and 15 other grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren; and one sister-in law, Rosa Lee Simmons of Kinston.
