December 18, 1902. King's Weekly. "Swift Creek lost another highly respected citizen in the death of Mr. Theophiles Bland, Sr., the 1st of November. Mr. Bland was 82 years old. He had lived to see his eight sons and five daughters all grown and married. He was a member of the Disciples." NOTE: Theophilus is buried in Maplewood Cemetery.
