Tiffine Hardison Whaley, age 83, of Willard entered into her eternal rest on Friday, January 23, 2009. She was born August 31, 1925 in Lenoir County, the daughter of the late Leslie and Mamie Taylor Hardison. She was also predeceased by her husband, James Edward "Elwood" Whaley, Sr.; infant son and a granddaughter. Surviving are her sons, Vincent Craig Whaley and James Edward “Junior” Whaley, Jr. (Kay) all of Willard; daughters, Carrie W. Hedgepeth (Robert) and Mary W. Bond (Linwood) both of Watha, Betty W. Powers (Timothy) of Fayetteville and JoAnn W. Nichols (Norwood) of Kinston; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and brother, Harold Hardison of Durham. Tiffine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who dearly loved her family. She will be lovingly remembered and truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Dean Walker and The Rev. Kathy Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be George Hubbard, George Hubbard, Jr., Benjamin Tripp, Frank Barnes, Justin Nichols and Mike Fussell. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
