HOOKERTON - Wilber Lambyrd Wiggins, 73, of Hookerton, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. He was born June 16, 1935, in Onslow County. He was a beloved husband, daddy, pappy, and papa. He retired from Kentec of Kinston. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lam Wiggins and Myrtle Cannon Wiggins. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Yvonne Provost Wiggins of the home; daughters, Sheila Barfield and husband John "Buddy," and Brenda Potter and husband Lynn, all of La Grange, Michelle Dunlow of Hookerton; sons, Wilber "Buddy" Wiggins, Jr. and wife Theresa, and Jimmy Wiggins and wife Carolyn, all of Kinston; grandchildren, Dawn Gale and husband Brooks, of Durham, Jessica Batchelor and Stephen Avery of Kinston, Caleb Wiggins of Kinston, William Rouse and wife Sonya, of Seven Springs, and Matthew Rouse of Seven Springs; great-grandchildren, Skyler and Dale Dunlow, Kaitlyn Parker, Kara and Kayla Gale, Jaden Avery, Will, Ivey and Thomas Rouse; brothers, Bill Wiggins and wife Lucille, and Jerry Wiggins and wife Sandra, all of Maysville, Nathan Wiggins of Jacksonville, Pat Wiggins and wife Lanette, of Wilson, Rodney Wiggins and wife Sue, of Pink Hill, Johnny Wiggins and wife Ann, of Angier, Ivey Wiggins of Milledgeville, Ga. and Donald Wiggins and wife Pat, of Port St Lucie, Fla.; sisters, Dorothy Banks of Maysville, and Linda Edwards and husband Hardy, of Burgaw. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home in Hookerton. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with the Reverend Brooks Gale officiating. Burial will follow the service at Snow Hill City Cemetery.
