Obituary of William Harvey Rose ~ 2010

William Harvey Rose 
 
KINSTON - William Harvey Rose, 86, of Kinston, passed away on Wednesday, January 
27, 2010. He was a member of West Side Free Will Baptist Church and retired from E.I. 
DuPont. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Elam Rose; parents William Zollie 
Rose and Mamie Joyner Rose; two brothers, Elmer Rose and Arthur Rose. Survivors 
include his three sons, William R. Rose and wife Barbara, of Kinston, Dennis R. Rose 
and wife Mary Martha, of New Bern, Thomas H. Elam and wife Maudith, of New Bern; two 
sisters, Myrtle Robbins of Nashville and Jahala Pulley of Wilson; and one brother, Ray 
Rose of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Elam Hartsell, Meredith Leigh 
Rose, Tyler W. Rose, James Pridgen and Nick Pridgen; and one great-grandchild, Grant 
Elam Hartsell. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010, 
at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, Bill Rose, 3405 
Timberlake Court, Kinston. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in 
Kinston with the Reverend Chris Singleton officiating. The family would like to thank his 
neighbors, caregivers and the staff of Britthaven of Kinston for their many years of love and
