Obituary of William Lawrence Hellen ~ 1947

The Following obituary appeared in the Wilmington Morning Star, Wilmington, NC. 
"SERVICES PLANNED FOR W. L. HELLEN - Funeral Of ACL Employee Scheduled for 11 A.M. Today: 
Funeral services for William Lawrence Hellen, 60 year old Atlantic Coast Line railroad employee and 
well-know sportsman who died at James Walker Memorial hospital Friday morning following a long illness, 
will be conducted from the chapel of Ward Funeral home this morning at 11 o'closck. 

The Rev. A. J. Russell will officiate and interment will be in Kinston, N. C. Mr. Hellen was employed at 
the Coast Line for approximately 30 years and made his home at the local Young Men's Christian 
association on Market street. He was a member of the board of directors of the New Hanover Fishing club 
and a well known sports enthusiast.

He is survived by one brother, George Hellen of Chapel Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. F. Robertson, 
Dr. Charles P. Graham, R. S. McClelland, George B. Canady, Paul T, Marshburn, W. E. Hand, McC. B. 
Wilson, W. E. Jenkins, J. S. Davis, C. C. Smith, and C. B. Kornegay."
