These obituaries that have been passed down in my family--they are 
newspaper clippings from Kinston, Lenoir Co.

Mr. Zack RHODES, Dead
Mr. Zacheus RHODES died at his home on Heritage St., Thursday evening at 
6:15 o'clock after a lingering illness of Bright's disease. Mr. RHODES 
had been in declining health for more than a year and during the winter 
was confined to his bed, from which his family despaired of his ever 
recovering after learingin of the nature of the malady. The funeral will 
take place this afternoon and the burial will be in Maplewood Cem., Rev. 
W.O. BODELL, pastor of the Universalist church, will conduct the funeral 
services, and the Knights of Harmony Lodge will have services at the 
grave. Mr. Zacheous RHODES was born in Jones Co., 64 years ago and moved 
to Kinston in 1892; since which time he has made his home in this city. 
He was always anupright and honored citizen of the community and enjoyed 
the full respect and esteem of those who knew him. For several terms he 
was elected president of the Knights of Harmony Lodge, and it was due 
largely to his influence and wise direction that the order grew to its 
present strong position in the community. He was an officer of the lodge 
when he died. Forty two years ago he was married to Miss Elizabeth 
RHODES, a daughter of the Rev. James RHODES, a beloved Baptist minister 
of this section. As the result of that union there survive eight 
daughters and two sons. They are Mrs. C.H.HAYNES, Mrs. W.J. LANGSTON, 
Mrs. I. S. ROCHELLE, Mrs. Ben HILL, Mrs. Emmett HASKINS, Mrs. W.C. 
SUTTON, Misses Annie and Verdie RHODES, and Messrs. John F. and Herman 
RHODES.
