HARDY-SPENCE Family

James Marshall HARDY (young and old) b. 19 July 1845-d. 11 March 1920. 
He was the son of William Hedrick HARDY and Tempie Virginia NETHERCUTT.

He married Elizabeth Susan SPENCE, she was the daughter of James Madison 
SPENCE and Nancy GOODMAN of Liddell District, Strabane Township; Lenoir Co., 
N.C. They are both buried in the J. M. SPENCE Cemetery in Liddell. (no dates are 
listed on tombstone of Bettie S. Hardy).

James Adrian SPENCE and wife Winifred WOOTEN

James Adrian SPENCE, b. 22 Feb. 1843 Lenoir Co., N.C.-d.12 Nov. 1917, 
Jones Co., N.C.; son of James Madison SPENCE and Nancy GOODMAN of Liddell, Lenoir Co., 
N.C.  He married Winnifred WOOTEN, on 28 Nov. 1865. She was the daughter of Josiah WOOTEN 
and Nancy SUTTON. She was born 3 Aug. 1846-d. 30 Aug. 1928. Both are buried in the Pleasant

Timothy SPENCE and wife Ursula HINES

Timothy SPENCE, b. 26 Oct. 1848-d.30 Nov. 1912, Lenoir Co., N.C. 
He was the son of James Madison SPENCE and wife Nancy GOODMAN.  Ursula HINES 
was the daughter of William C. HINES and wife Elizabeth BOWDEN. She died 24 April 
1893, and is buried in the J. M. SPENCE cemetery. They were the parents of 16 children, 
14 living.
