A family portrait of William E. Stroud (1846-1915) and his sons of Woodington in southern Lenoir County . The portrait was takenby Coble Studio of Kinston around 1900. During the Civil War, William E. Stroud served in Company E of the 61st Regiment of the North Carolina State Troops, and after the war he was widely known as "Captain Bill." He was a farmer and merchant at Woodington and gave the land for the Woodington Universalist Church . The subjects of the portrait are as follows: First row, left to right: Eddie, Emmett, William E.
